The Veterans Memorial Building Coliseum, on the 2nd Avenue Bridge in downtown Cedar Rapids, is set to host a benefit concert for the Linn County Freedom Rock on Saturday, September 21.

The show will feature three different acts. The headliner, Branson, Missouri's Travis Dean and Highway 39, will perform at 7 p.m., preceded by local musician Clint Koerperich at 5:30, followed by local blues band Blue Scratch.

Tickets for the concert are $20 for adults, $10 for kids 5-12, and 4 and under are free. They can be purchased HERE in advance or at the door. Doors for the show will open at 5 p.m.

All the proceeds from the concert go to the Linn County Freedom Rock at the Linn County Fairgrounds in Central City. The massive boulder will be painted by acclaimed artist Ray "Bubba" Sorensen II in 2020.

Freedom Rocks, which every one of Iowa's 99 counties will have within the next few years, are painted to honor veterans of that specific county. 84 rocks have already been completed, indicated in red below. The blue counties have reserved rocks but they are not yet painted. If you click HERE, you can see the addresses of completed Freedom Rocks around Iowa, as well as photos of many of them.

If you can't make it to the concert but would still like to make a tax-deductible donation to the Linn County Freedom Rock Foundation, you can do so at Dupaco Community Credit Union locations or HERE.

If you'd like to honor a veteran in your family, a brick paver program will be part of the Linn County Freedom Rock design. You can find details on that HERE.
