The new Iowa license plates are expected to come out sometime this year, and when they do you may only be getting one plate! That's due to a bill that was recently introduced to Iowa legislature that would change license requirements for vehicles on the road, according to KWWL.

Currently, Iowa drivers must have a license plate on the front and back of their vehicle. With the new bill, drivers would only be required to have a back license plate. No more front license plates!

Of course, this proposed change has its supporters and opponents. The KWWL report states that the bill is supported by the Iowa Automobile Association. Apparently, many car collectors and enthusiasts don't care for the front plates as "a lot of sports cars don't come with a front bracket for the plates, making it hard to put them on."

Opponents to the bill include the Police Chief Association and the Iowa State Sheriff's and Deputies because they feel the front plates are helpful and can be important in criminal investigations.

According to frontplate.org, Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia are the states that currently don't require a front plate.

It's unclear yet whether the Iowa bill will pass or not, but it is currently in the senate subcommittee. What do you think of the bill? Should vehicles always be as easy to identify as possible, hence front plate? Or is not having a front plate not a big deal? Tell us what you think in the comments!
