KWWL reported that Lansing’s entire police force has resigned. Police Chief Conrad Rosendahl's resignation took effect on June 26, as he began his new role as Chief of Police in New Hampton on July 1. Officers Troy Riehm and Darby Stone also submitted their resignations, effective July 26.

New Hampton, IA was founded round about 1855 and is named after New Hampton, New Hampshire the native town of one of the founders.  It is also the county seat of Chickasaw Couty, Iowa.  Speaking of law enforcement and Chickasaw County; wasn't that where Sheriff Little worked?  The one that was always waiting for the Duke boys to cross over from Hazzard into Chickasaw County so HE could chase them all around.

The City of New Albin, which also contracts with Lansing for police services, will be impacted by this change. Following the resignation of the Lansing Police Department, the city's mayor has outlined the next steps.

The city had the officers until today Friday, July 26, 2024. “After that, the county sheriff’s staff will cover our law enforcement needs for both Lansing and New Albin,” said Lansing mayor Mike Verndon.

There does not seem to be a clear reason behind the departures.  At least, none have been divulged from any of the officers.

The duration of this temporary arrangement with the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office is still unknown. This uncertainty is due to a broader shortage of law enforcement officers in Iowa and the Upper Midwest, affecting staffing levels and recruitment efforts.
