Iowa State to Play on New LED Court During Big 12 Tournaments
The Big 12 Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments will once again be held in Kansas City. But this year, fans can expect one big change. The court.
New LED Basketball Court to be Used by The Big 12
Get ready for a playing experience like no other. Yahoo reports that this year's Big 12 Conference Tournaments will feature an LED basketball court. The new court can replicate any team's home court and will also feature animations when a player hits a three-point shot or slams home a huge dunk. It can even display player stats and highlights on the court, according to Yahoo.
What Do Players Think of the New Court?
Yahoo reports that players who have stepped onto the new court have given it positive reviews. The court is reportedly lighter on the ankles and knees, and has a more consistent grip. The court can be used for both games and for practice.
According to Yahoo, players can also be outfitted with sensors. Along with sensors in the ball, players will be able to track where they make the most shots from, and even see how fast they are running during a game.
Honestly, I believe you're looking at the future of basketball. As long as players favor the playing surface, what's not to love? More enjoyment for fans watching the game! Just as long as they can add in the squeak of sneakers!
The Big 12 Women's Tournament is March 4-9, and the men's tournament is March 10-14.
