Momcilovic Sets New Cyclone Record as ISU Tops Utah
Milan Momcilovic will now have his name written down forever in the Iowa State Cyclone record books.
A New Iowa State Record Set on Tuesday Night
Milan Momcilovic hit four three-point shots on Tuesday night, setting a new Cyclone record for most threes made in a season, according to the Cedar Rapids Gazette. Momcilovic now has 104 threes on the year, topping the previous record of 102 set by the late Cedric Willougby, another all-time Cyclone great. The Gazette reports that Momcilovic called the record a "pretty cool accomplishment" and credited his teammates for continuing to look for him.
Cyclones Get Road Win Over Utah
Iowa State was able to get an important road win over last-place Utah, winning 75-59. The Gazette reports that Joshua Jefferson led the way for Iowa State, scoring 21 points and pulling down six rebounds. Momcilovic added 14 points during his record-setting night. It was the 11th time this season that he had hit at least four three-point shots in a game.
Iowa State Moves Into Second Place in the Big 12
With the win, Iowa State improves to 24-4 overall and 11-4 in the Big 12. The Gazette reports that it is good for a tie for second place in the conference. Iowa State is ranked #4 nationally. The Cyclones return home for an important game against #12 Texas Tech on Saturday at Hilton Colliseum. Iowa State is among several teams that still have a chance at a #1 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
