98.1 KHAK First Responder Friday Honors Tim Recker

Every Friday morning at 6:30 a.m., 98.1 KHAK's Brain & Courtlin pay tribute to an Eastern Iowa first responder during our 'First Responder Friday' segment! The weekly honoree receives a $25 gift card to Wild Hogs Saloon and Eatery in Walford and a $25 gift card to Honor and Respect.

Today we're honoring Tim Recker, who was nominated by Kera Recker! The entry reads:

"Tim has always been someone who puts others before himself and truly has a heart for serving others. He served in the U.S. Navy, where he discovered his passion for firefighting. He volunteered with the Coralville Fire Department before becoming a career firefighter with the Iowa City Fire Department. He has been with the department for 16 years and currently serves as a Lieutenant. Tim is highly involved in the department. He teaches ice rescue and is a member of the honor guard. He is also part of Task Force 1 based out of Cedar Rapids, as well as Johnson County Urban Search and Rescue (USAR)."
