98.1 KHAK First Responder Friday Honors Logan Cilek

Every Friday morning at 6:30 a.m., 98.1 KHAK's Brain & Courtlin pay tribute to an Eastern Iowa first responder during our 'First Responder Friday' segment! The weekly honoree receives a $25 gift card to Wild Hogs Saloon and Eatery in Walford and a $25 gift card to Honor and Respect.

Today we're honoring Logan Cilek, who was nominated by Jayme Cilek! The entry reads:

"Logan has been on the West Branch Volunteer Fire Department around 13 years. At only 31, he has been the Assistant Fire Chief for five years and counting! He has dedicated so much of his life and A LOT of his time to our community, surrounding communities, and those traveling through. He is motivated, selfless, thoughtful, caring, kind, and an all around amazing person. He lives in a way that inspires you to want to be a better person. He never puts his own wants or needs in front of anyone. Logan has run out on countless holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, family events, plans, graduation parties, and church dinners, just to be there for others. He doesn’t pick and choose which calls to go on, his motto has always been: 'Someone, somewhere could be having the worst day of their life, and I’d like to help any way I can.' Like all first responders, Logan has seen a lot of things we hope we never will, but he’s never once let any of it change his outgoing, loving outlook on life and the people around him. He would never take credit or acknowledge how great he is, but he deserves to know how loved and appreciated he is, and how lucky we are to have him in our lives and community. He truly is one of the best."
