You know how I just love talking about New Year's resolutions. I typically don't make them. But if you do, I get it. The New Year is a great time for a fresh start. The most popular resolution by far, is to get in better shape. That means working out, and for many of us, a diet. There are so many to choose from, how do you know which one is best for you?

U.S. News and World Report recently compiled a list of the 'Best Diets for 2021.' I'll admit it. I looked. There was one diet that seemed to rank very high in a number of certain categories. It ranked #1 for best overall diet, best plant based diet, best heart healthy diet, best diabetes diet, and the easiest diet to follow. It is the Mediterranean Diet.

The Mediterranean Diet isn't really a structured diet. You'll need to figure out how many calories you need to maintain your weight or to lose it. The diet consists of eating foods like fruits, veggies, whole grains, beans, nuts, olive oil, fish and seafood, poultry, cheese and yogurt in moderation. You'll lay off foods like red meat and sweets. You can even enjoy a nice glass of wine on this diet!

You can check out all the benefits of the Mediterranean Diet and find out if it is right for you! It's easy to follow and has a ton of health benefits! But, it isn't for everyone. Make sure and check out the U.S. News and World Report's list of top diets for one that fits your lifestyle!
