Say Hello to Brain and Courtlin’s New Summer Intern, Claire!

One of our favorite parts of morning radio is getting to work with young people interested in our field. We are very excited to introduce you to our new summer intern on KHAK, Claire!

We asked Claire to tell our listeners more about herself!

Hello, everyone! My name is Claire, and I am from Cedar Rapids!

I just finished my Junior year at South Dakota State University, where I major in Journalism and have a minor in Theatre and Dance. Some fun facts about me are that I have been dancing for 17 years! Growing up, I did studio dance at Joan Cooling Dance Center in Vinton, Iowa. While there, I danced competitively for about 12 years! Before I enrolled at South Dakota State, I went to Kirkwood Community College, where I studied Studio Art and was on the cheer team.

While in high school, I found my love for theatre, so when going to college, I wanted to try something more with it. At Kirkwood, I was in Shrek the Musical! as a featured dancer. While at South Dakota State, I got the chance to be in Newsies the musical!, where I was a featured dancer, I also played Claire in the production of Fuddy Meers by David Lindsay-Abaire. For dance productions, I have been in SDSU's A Christmas Celebration for the past

two years, and the student-choreographed dance concerts, Vantage Points, and BE.

My dream job would be a Rockette or a dancer on Broadway. But I do love Radio broadcasting and would love to work at a radio station like the one I am interning at now! I look forward to what the future brings me!

Welcome to KHAK Country! You'll be able to catch Claire with us on our morning show on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday mornings! We also plan on having her join us at many of our summer events, like the Great Jones County Fair!
