Mid-August means kids are about to go back to school and for us at KHAK, it means it's time to raise money for many area kids. Many of those won't be able to see their classmates as the new school year begins.

Our 22nd Annual Radiothon for Children's Miracle Network is this Thursday and Friday at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital in Iowa City. Brain and Courtlin will again be hosting the event from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

This year, our Radiothon will be broadcast from the 12th floor of the hospital, inside what's called the 'Press Box.' It's the exact spot where you see so many kids and their families looking down from during the Iowa Wave at Hawkeye home games. This is what they see when they look down at Iowa fans and Kinnick Stadium.

When we embarked on our first Radiothon in 1997, we had no idea the impact it would have on us, and more importantly, the kids and families served by Children's Miracle Network at the Iowa City hospital. A lot has changed over the years, including the brand new Children's Hospital, but one thing hasn't. The kids and families still need our help and our love. You show that love every time you call in a donation at 800-456-2772 or donate on our website. All the money stays right here in Iowa City too, benefiting fellow Iowans.

These two days we set aside for Radiothon each year are the two most important days we broadcast each year. Honestly, nothing else comes close.
