BLOCKtoberfest Will Return to Downtown Cedar Rapids Next Week
Last year, the first ever BLOCKtoberfest took place in Downtown Cedar Rapids. Now it's back for year number two!
Next Friday, September 22nd, a couple of downtown Cedar Rapids streets will be closed down for BLOCKtoberfest II. It will take place on at the intersection of 2nd Ave and 3rd St and expand down 2nd Ave in both directions. Just like last year, there will be food stands set up, as well as drink stations. The Downtown Cedar Rapids website also promises "other exciting side attractions."
The headliner of the 2023 BLOCKtoberfest is The Pork Tornadoes, with Running in Place as the opening act. The Pork Tornadoes are a popular Iowa cover band that "are known for putting a unique spin on all of your favorite songs, spanning 5 decades and 4 different genres." They play everything from Taylor Swift and Harry Styles to Blink-182 and Tom Petty. One of their most popular covers is Chris Stapleton's "Tennessee Whiskey," which has over 8 million views on YouTube!
BLOCKtoberfest II will take place from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and is open to all ages. Admission is $5 per person. You can visit the official website for the event HERE.
BLOCKtoberfest is just one of the Oktoberfest celebrations coming up here in Iowa! Events in Uptown Marion and Adventureland in Altoona will take place this Saturday, and Amana Oktoberfest is set for the last weekend in September.
