[UPDATE 10/1 6:00 p.m.] The victim’s 2005 Buick LaSabre has been located. The investigation is continuing and anyone with any information is asked to call the Cedar Rapids Police Department at (319) 286-5491.
[ORIGINAL] Cedar Rapids Police sent a press release Tuesday stating they were investigating after an Iowa Department of Transportation employee found a deceased female body alongside Interstate 380 southbound near Wright Brothers Boulevard SW on Monday, September 28. The body has now been identified.
Cedar Rapids Police released information Thursday stating that the victim has been identified as 61-year-old Neva Jean Rhyne of Indianapolis, Indiana. There is no information regarding the circumstances of Rhyne's death. In fact, oddly enough, the Police Department is requesting the public's help in locating Rhyne's vehicle. As seen in the photos below, it is a "white 2005 Buick LaSabre with the Indiana license plate 810MHR".
Not only are the police asking for help finding her vehicle, but they are asking anyone that may have seen Rhyne "since Friday, September 25, 2020 after 10 p.m. to contact investigators" at the Cedar Rapids Police Department at (319) 286-5491.
There are many questions left unanswered with this case. Our thoughts are with the victim's family. Anyone with information that could help is encouraged to call. We hope more information regarding the circumstances of Rhyne's death are revealed, and we will continue to provide updates as more information surrounding this evolving case become available.
