Two Cedar Rapids Police Officers Were Injured In 380 Accident [PHOTO]
If you were in the Cedar Rapids area today, you know temperatures and travel was brutal. In fact, this morning Cedar Rapids reached its RECORD coldest temperature of -30 degrees! Not a good time to be out on the roads.
Cedar Rapids police officers responded to 58 accidents today through 3 p.m. including one that involved them. Two Cedar Rapids police officers were injured while responding to a crash on I-380 this afternoon. According to CBS2/FOX 28, Cedar Rapids police spokesman Greg Buelow states that two officers in a police SUV were directing traffic on I-380 southbound at 42nd St. NE due to a crash farther south. That's when another vehicle lost control and hit the back of the CRPD SUV. As you can see from the photo below, it did some damage.
It's a good thing the officers had their seat belts on or this could have been much worse. Both officers were transported to local hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver that struck the police SUV seems to be doing good as well, as they sustained minor injuries.
PLEASE drive slow and stay safe out there, Iowa.
