Tonight: Shine Your Light 4 Firefighters

Residents of Hiawatha are joining the Hiawatha Fire Department and showing their support for firefighters across the U.S. tonight with the Shine Your Light 4 Firefighters awareness campaign.

It's a celebration with the International Firefighters Day 2020 sponsored by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF)

They are asking citizens to brighten up the night with red light bulbs on the outside of their homes.

The residents of Hiawatha flipped the switches last night and will do it again tonight. We snapped pictures of several homes shining brightly on the first of two nights.

As explained on their home page, the NFFF is committed to helping firefighters everywhere:

This day of recognition is at the core of what the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) does. Our mission is to honor and remember America’s fallen firefighters, to assist their families in rebuilding their lives, and to prevent firefighter injuries and deaths.

But what if you don't have a red bulb? Or what if your name is Roxanne?  OK, so you don't have to turn on a red light (sorry, that's bad, even for a Dad Joke)
