Rolling Stone recently made a list of the 50 greatest horror movies of the 21st century, and some of the results might surprise you.

Horror movies + Me = NOPE

Growing up, my parents, my brother, and I had family movie nights, and the month of October was never enjoyable. Why? Because I'm a giant baby, that's why. I was forced to watch a bunch of classic horror movies like Halloween, It, The Amityville Horror, and The Shining. I was forced to watch Friday the 13th the night before I went to summer camp for the first time, and I was scarred for life. Needless to say, I don't watch horror movies as an adult.

Rolling Stone unveiled their list of the top 50 greatest horror movies of the 21st century, and I have seen not a single one of them (obviously). Let's see how many in the top 10 you're familiar with:

  1. 28 Days Later... (2002)
  2. Let the Right One In (2008)
  3. The Babadook (2014)
  4. The Conjuring (2013)
  5. The Cabin in the Woods (2012)
  6. Pulse (2001)
  7. The Witch (2009)
  8. Shaun of the Dead (2004)
  9. The Descent (2005)
  10. Under the Skin (2013)

Hitfix also posted a list, but they didn't limit their choices to just 16 years. Here are the top 10 results from their "Ultimate Horror Movie Poll," which outlines the top 100 horror movies of all time:

  1. The Exorcist (1973)
  2. The Shining (1980)
  3. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
  4. Rosemary's Baby (1968)
  5. Alien (1979)
  6. The Thing (1982)
  7. Halloween (1978)
  8. Psycho (1960)
  9. Night of the Living Dead (1968)
  10. Jaws (1975)
