Linn County Restaurant Has One of Iowa’s Best Burgers
Is there a more delicious contest than determining who has Iowa's best burger? Nominations were submitted through March 13th and we now have our top ten! It includes a relatively new restaurant in the Linn County town of Central City.
Parlor on Main is located at 435 East Main Street in Central City. It is officially in the top ten for the 13th annual Iowa's Best Burger Competition. In order to qualify for the annual competition, CBS2 reports that restaurants must serve the burger on a bun or bread product with a 100% real beef patty, and may include any combination of condiments, sauces, cheese, or toppings.
CBS2 says that officials with the Iowa Beef Industry Council report that over 6,400 votes were cast for over 500 Iowa restaurants. This year's top ten burger nominees are,
- Arty's Ice Cream and Grill - Wilton
- Ben's Burgers - Ankeny
- Birdies, Burgers, and Brews @ The Hillcrest - Graettinger
- Burger and Company - Spirit Lake
- Fishback and Stephenson Cider House - Fairfield
- Foodie Garage Eatery - Dubuque
- Flight Bar and Grille - Huxley
- Jeronimo's Bar and Grill - Springbrook
- Parlor on Main - Central City
- Troy's Bar and Grill - Earling
CBS2 reports that of this year's top ten, five restaurants are first time nominees. Parlor on Main owner Tasha Rundall told CBS2 that they are still "kind of in shock" over the nomination. She also said that it's another reason to make sure and give small restaurants a chance.
The top ten restaurants will now be visited by a panel of anonymous judges who will evaluate and score the burgers. The winner will be announced on May 1st, the kickoff of May Beef Month. No Eastern Iowa restaurant has ever been named the overall winner. Good luck to Parlor on Main! I can't wait to try one of your burgers soon!
