That New Cedar Rapids Tomaso’s Pizza Location is Now Open

UPDATE 3/21:

The new Tomaso's location is now open at 2706 1st Ave NE! It officially opened for business on Saturday, March 18th, which means that the location at 3234 Center Point Rd NE is now closed. The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that the hours are Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Friday & Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

ORIGINAL STORY 1/24:

Last spring, we got word that Tomaso's Pizza would be moving to a brand new location at 2706 1st Ave NE in 2023. Now that 2023 has arrived, that new location is getting very close to opening its doors! According to a recent Instagram post, the owners of Tomaso's Pizza are hoping make the switch over to 1st Ave the first week of March.

If you're wondering if the new Tomaso's will be as good as the old one, the answer is YES! Owner Holly Carfrae told me last May:

"Our famous pizza will be exactly the same… people the same. [There will be] bigger booths, large farm style table for larger groups, a bigger beer and wine selection… and possibly to-go beer. I think Cedar Rapids will be excited about this."

Based on the photos that have been posted to the Tomaso's Pizza Cedar Rapids Facebook page, it looks like the new building has made a huge transformation over the past several months. We can't wait to see what the finished restaurant will look like!

Tomaso's just celebrated their 28th anniversary in December, the last one that they will have in their original location at 3234 Center Point Rd NE. Owners Nick and Holly marked the milestone on Facebook, writing:

"We know some of you will miss our current location (we will too) but it’s time for a new chapter in our book. Thank you for letting us be part of your memories and traditions the last 28 years. We can’t wait to continue them at our new location for another 28."
