A New Bar & Art Gallery is Coming to Downtown Cedar Rapids

Something new is making its way to Downtown Cedar Rapids!

On my way into work on Tuesday morning, I noticed something new on the window of a now-closed Cedar Rapids business. Under the bright orange 'Studio 6 Karaoke Bar' sign at 203 1st Ave SE is a hand-painted message that reads: "Can you keep a secret?" Although the large front window of the building is covered up by paper, the message features an arrow to a small, head-sized hole that you can look through. That hole offers a little sneak into the construction being done inside of the building, a sure sign that something new is moving in! Directly under that hole is another message:

What's Frank's Bar & Gallery?

There isn't a ton of information about Frank's Bar & Gallery just yet, but we do have a general idea of what to expect thanks to social media. The Frank's Bar & Gallery Facebook page describes the business as:

"Frank’s Bar & Gallery is coming soon to downtown Cedar Rapids. A little weird. A little loud. Colorful as hell. Welcoming, but bitchy in the best way.

The woman behind the new bar is Abby Scott, who shared on Instagram that Frank's Bar & Gallery has been a dream of hers for a long time. A recent post says that she's excited to give locals a new place to "hang out, drink something good, see some art, and have a little fun." The space will also feature music, events, and "whatever the hell else [they] feel like getting into."

When Will it Open?

Other than what's posted on social media, we have yet to hear any other details about Frank's Bar & Gallery, and that includes an estimated opening date. We will keep you updated on the business when more information becomes available, but in the meantime, you can follow Frank's Bar & Gallery's Facebook page HERE and Instagram HERE.
