One Teen Killed & Another Injured In Shooting Near UNI Campus
One 18-year-old is dead and another 18-year-old injured following a shooting in the College Hill area of Cedar Falls.
Cedar Falls Police were called to a shooting in the 2300 block of Olive Street at 12:45 this morning. It's just east of the University of Northern Iowa campus (see box above), and just over a mile from the UNI-Dome, where semifinal high school playoff action had ended less than three hours before.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports 18-year-old Alex Michael Bullerman of Waterloo died of a gunshot wound and 18-year-old Dylan James Gehrke, also of Waterloo, was treated and released at an area hospital. Gehrke was taken to the hospital, in a personal vehicle, about an hour after the shooting was first reported.
