One Iconic Superhero Calls Iowa Home
The public's love for superheroes is at an all-time high.
With the release of the latest Batman movie starring Robert Pattinson and the seemingly thousands of Marvel projects that are set to premiere over the next few years, it's never been a better time to be a fan of these larger-than-life characters.
2022 is the year of the superhero. Spider-Man: No Way Home is still destroying it at the box office, and DC fans are abuzz for the next incarnation of Gotham's greatest hero. The new film starring Robert Pattinson is set to open in theaters on March 4th.
The past few years have been preparing fans for a superhero renaissance.
First, we saw the release of the awards show darling WandaVision. The episodes followed two of the lesser-known characters from the Avengers franchise with some nods to classic television shows like Bewitched and Modern Family.
Following the success of this show, Disney + released The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki , Black Widow, What If...?, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, AND Hawkeye. ALL IN ONE YEAR.
The latter has ties to the Hawkeye State.
Clint Barton aka Hawkeye is from the Cedar Valley. Portrayed by Jeremy Renner, Hawkeye spends his childhood working in his father's butcher shop in the town of Waverly.
His parents end up dying in a tragic car accident which caused him to spend some time in an orphanage.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the character is considered one of the original Avengers.
He made his debut in the original film Avengers in 2012. Barton has appeared in five of the superhero flicks over the past decade.
There is no word on when we will next see this hero on our screens. Fans predict that he will not be featured in the upcoming Doctor Strange flick which is set to premiere this summer.
The show Hawkeye is currently streaming on Disney +.
