A Western Iowa man's "leap" on Leap Day paid off to the tune of a cool $1 million this week.

We told you last weekend someone had purchased a winning million-dollar ticket in Correctionville. Congratulations to Shane Saxen, who says he'd usually wait until the jackpot is higher to pick up a ticket, but this time, he bought it with the prize sitting at $80 million. He changed his thought process and it paid off.

Saxen, 31, claimed his prize Monday at Iowa Lottery headquarters in Clive. He credits his sister for making sure he checked and double-checked his numbers after word spread in their small town of a big winner.

Saxen bought his easy-pick ticket at Brew, a convenience store and coffee shop at 404 11th St. in Correctionville. The winning numbers were  24-44-46-50-51 and a Powerball of 13. He was one number short of winning the whole thing, missing only the Powerball number.

Since no one matched all six numbers, it brings the jackpot up to $90 million on Wednesday night. Don't forget to pick up a ticket. You might luck out like Shane.
