One-Time Midwest Party Palace Has Two Jail Cells Inside [PHOTOS]
Oh, the stories this place could tell...
Have you ever seen a house with a small jail just off the kitchen? Of course, you haven't. That's the largest of one of many oddities of a home here in the Midwest that sold for $40,000 over the asking price this past summer. Sure the tight housing market had something to do with it but its history just may have had an impact, as well.
The home is gigantic. The 6,467 square foot house includes a 2-story great room, 4 bedrooms (each with a full bathroom), kitchens on each level, a 2nd story balcony, a full bar, a sauna, a swimming pool, and two jail cells. No, they didn't mention the jail cells in the description of the home, for obvious reasons. However, they're there, as you'll see in the photos below.
One portion of the listing from last summer raises eyebrows. It says, "This home has an attached garage (in addition to the 2-car garage that is pictured) that is part of the adjacent parcel and is not included in the purchase." Say what? The below probably explains that.
Ryan Stackhouse of Superior PLUS Realtors claims, "A doctor lived right next door with his wife, and he built this property next to his home. I think he had kind of a wild lifestyle, and he built this as kind of a party pad." Honestly, that explains an awful lot when you see the inside of this house.
The home I call the Midwest Party Palace is located in Celina, Ohio. Built in 1972, it was listed for $275,000 in June of 2022. It sold in August for $315,000. It was Realtor.com's most-searched home in the entire U.S. last year.
Yes, as you look through the photos below you'll notice that it's a very, uh, unique house. But if only it could tell the stories of what happened inside its walls...
