Marion To Allow Garage and Yard Sales Starting in June
It looks like things are starting to get back to normal. Earlier this week, Cedar Rapids and Marion announced in a press release that the cities parks will reopen on Monday, June 1. Playgrounds, basketball courts, baseball fields, skate parks and more will all be open for public use. However, social distancing guidelines and hand sanitizer are encouraged.
Not only is all of that opening back up, but another summer activity is being allowed to happen. According to KCRG, garage and yard sales are allowed in Marion beginning June 1. The city announced that they are lifting the restrictions on "garage sales, yard sales and other in-person, private sales".
Even though the restrictions are lifted on being able to hold a sale, there will still be some protocols that will need to be followed. For example, garage sale goers must maintain a 6-foot distance from those not in their household, and no more than 10 people can be in the same space at a time.
The KCRG report states that Marion Mayor Nicolas AbouAssaly recommends that face coverings are used, hand sanitizer and handwashing stations are provided, a plan is in place to limit the amount of people in the area at a time and the flow of traffic, and surfaces are sanitized frequently.
Marion residents will get to enjoy hunting for those bargains at the neighborhood garage sale, and they'll be doing so in a much cleanlier fashion.
