Corporate social responsibility initiatives might sound like a mouthful, but it’s basically a company’s way of giving back to the community and the planet. Instead of just focusing on profits, it’s about doing good for the world, whether that’s through donations, volunteer work, or sustainable practices. That's what US Cellular is doing before the holidays.

For UScellular, their "Connect Your Cause" program is a perfect example of this. Each year, their associates get the chance to nominate and vote for nonprofit organizations that they’re passionate about.

Saving animals is what SAINT does and they were recognized by US Cellular. SAINT of Cedar Rapids received $7,000 from UScellular’s Connect Your Cause program. UScellular associates Summer Cranston (center) and Darcy Dugan (right) recently awarded an oversized check to SAINT founder Nicki Brodersen.

The winning organizations receive funding to help them do even more good. It’s all about supporting local causes, from animal welfare to education and everything in between.

This will be the second substantial donation US Cellular has made in the Cedar Rapids area.  Last Friday, US Cellular donated $5,000 to The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Corridor.  You can see the donation below.

In fact, UScellular has already donated over $47 million since 2009, with contributions ranging from money to technology resources to cool experiences—all to help out nonprofits across the country. It’s a great way for the company to make a real, positive impact on communities!
