Cedar Rapids Among the Best Run Cities in the Nation

Running a city isn't a task I envy. Think of all the things you have to juggle. Economic issues, public safety, traffic patterns, and more! But according to a new study from WalletHub, Cedar Rapids is among the best-run big cities in the entire nation!

Explaining the Rankings

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that WalletHub looked at a number of different statistics from 148 of the nation's largest cities to find out which cities ran the most efficiently. Each city received a 'Quality of City Services' score and a 'Total Budget per Capita' score. Overall, Cedar Rapids came in ranked #22! Des Moines was the only other Iowa city in the rankings, coming in at #89, according to the Gazette. 

Where Did Cedar Rapids Rank Highest?

While Cedar Rapids' 'Total Budget Per Capita' ranking was 45, the study revealed that the city ranked 17th overall in 'Quality of City Services'. Cedar Rapids ranked in the top 15 in public safety and economy. Its lowest ranking was education at 81st.

Other Midwest cities that had high rankings include Sioux Falls, South Dakota at #6, Fort Wayne, Indiana at #7, Lincoln, Nebraska at #9, and Madison, Wisconsin at #24.

The #1 overall best-run city in the nation was Provo, Utah.
