La Cantina Has Officially Closed Their Cedar Rapids Location

A well-known Cedar Rapids Mexican restaurant announced on social media this week that they have shut their doors for good. La Cantina Bar N Grill on Edgewood Road is now closed.

The Announcement

La Cantina's closure announcement came in the form of a Facebook post on Wednesday, November 3rd. It reads:

"It is with heavy hearts that we announce the closure of our Edgewood location. The past few years have been challenging for many small businesses in our community, and we’ve faced financial hurdles we could not overcome."

In the comments of the post, La Cantina let customers know that, unfortunately, the restaurant has already closed, so you won't be able to visit one last time. There is some good news, though! La Cantina still has one restaurant that will be staying in business. The post says:

"Our Marion location remains open and ready to serve all your favorites."

La Cantina previously had other locations here in the Corridor. The Downtown Cedar Rapids restaurant closed back in February of 2021, and there was briefly a location in Center Point, which closed in 2024.

The Marion Location

The Marion La Cantina is located at 3217 7th Ave in the East End Shopping Center, which is also home to several other businesses including Clean Laundry and Subway. The hours listed on Google are:

Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Friday & Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

A Friendly Reminder

In their post, La Cantina issued an important reminder to Eastern Iowans about supporting small businesses. It reads:

"Small businesses need support now more than ever, so we encourage you to continue showing up for local businesses whenever you can."

Whether its a restaurant, a store, or a business that offers a service, please keep locally-owned places in mind when you're out shopping this holiday season.
