A New Downtown Cedar Rapids Restaurant Opens This Week

For the last few months, I've passed by the corner of 3rd St and 4th Ave in Downtown Cedar Rapids on my way home from work almost every day. Since Gianna's Italian Beef closed earlier this year, the space at 375 3rd St SE has been vacant... but, that's about to change! According to a new Facebook post, Dua Pie is finally ready to open its doors!

About Dua Pie

Dua Pie is a new, family-owned eatery located in the former home of Gianna's that aims to "bring a taste of New York to Iowa" with "handmade pizzas, pastas, and subs — made fresh, with love, every day." Temporary signage for the restaurant with the message "COMING SOON" has been up for quite awhile now, but it has recently been replaced with a permanent sign, which I hoped was an indication that they were getting closer to opening. As it turns out, my assumption was correct!

The Grand Opening

In the early hours of Tuesday, November 18th, Dua Pie updated their new Facebook page to let people know that they are finally ready to welcome customers. The announcement reads:

"We’re thrilled to finally announce that we’ll be opening our doors on Wednesday, November 19th! This has been a long journey, and we want to sincerely thank every single person who has supported us along the way."

The post from Dua Pie also issues a friendly reminder to customers who plan to visit in the coming days. It reads:

"As we settle in, we kindly ask for a little grace during these first few weeks while we fine-tune our operations and work through any bumps in the road. We’re committed to serving the best food possible and making Dua Pie a place you’re excited to come back to. Stay tuned for details on our official grand opening and the fun promotions we’ll be rolling out for it."

Dua Pie doesn't appear to have any hours or a menu posted just yet, and there doesn't appear to be a website, but you can follow the Facebook page HERE for the latest updates!
