La Cantina Mexican Restaurant Closes Eastern Iowa Location

More sad restaurant news as La Cantina Bar and Grill has closed one of its Eastern Iowa locations.

La Cantina expanded from its locations on 7th Ave. in Marion and off Edgewood Road in Cedar Rapids to Center Point in 2023. They took over the building that had long been the home of Joensy's Restaurant. The popular restaurant closed in 2022. The owners hoped to find someone to take over the restaurant, but it never happened. That is when La Cantina moved in, renovated the building, and brought their amazing Mexican food to Center Point!

La Cantina is one of the highest-rated Mexican restaurants in the area for a reason. They have an amazing menu filled with traditional Mexican favorites, and some American classics too! And don't even get me started on the margarita flights! And while you can still enjoy all the great food and beverages at the Marion and Cedar Rapids locations, the Center Point La Cantina has closed for good.

I got a message from a listener who lives in Center Point that the restaurant had closed. No announcement has been made on the La Cantina Facebook page so I reached out to the restaurant. They confirmed to me yesterday that they had closed the Center Point location.

It has been a rough week for restaurant news. Chrome Horse in Newbo announced they would close as of September 28th. Happy Joe's in Hiawatha has abruptly closed. Just another reminder to support your local restaurants whenever you can!
