Jordan Bohannon’s Season Comes To An End
Jordan Bohannon and the University of Iowa made it official late Monday. The senior point guard will be undergoing yet another season-ending hip surgery. Bohannon will have surgery on his left hip on Thursday. He had the same procedure done on his right hip in May. Recovery time is six to nine months.
It didn't come as a surprise that Bohannon would shut it down. He played in just 10 games this season for Iowa. He missed the Cal Poly game so his 10th game was the Iowa State game in Ames. Media reports also said that Bohannon was in so much pain that he couldn't even practice with the team.
Bohannon was averaging 8 points and 3 assists per game for the Hawkeyes this season, well off his career numbers. He did have some big games for Iowa, including 12 points in the victory over ISU. He also has made 18 straight free throws, a streak which he'll continue next season.
So who steps up for the Hawkeyes? Ryan Kreiner could see his minutes rise and perhaps even start next to Luka Garza. Freshman Joe Touissant will no doubt see his minutes rise too. Iowa plays it's first official game without Bohannon on Saturday night in Chicago against Cinncinati.
