Iowa Man’s Incredible Story of Perseverance Now A Documentary [WATCH]
On October 16, 2010, Iowa Farm Bureau reports that Chris Norton was just 18 years old, playing college football for Luther in Decorah when any player's worst nightmare occurred. Chris was on the kickoff coverage team and, as his website says, "I saw the opening for a tackle, but I mistimed my jump by a split second. Instead of being in front of the ball, I collided with the ball carrier's legs. And in an instant, I lost all feeling and movement from my neck down." Chris was told by a doctor that he would be paralyzed for the rest of his life. The doctor underestimated Chris Norton.
Following the injury, Chris worked and worked and worked in physical therapy. According to the Daily Mail, he met his future wife, Emily, in 2013. The night before his college graduation in 2015, Chris asked Emily to marry him. The next day, she assisted Chris as he walked across the stage at his college graduation.

As they planned their wedding, Chris set a goal of walking seven yards with Emily after they were pronounced man and wife. In the spring of 2018, they did it. Together.
Chris has started the Chris Norton Foundation that helps "people with neuromuscular injuries and disabilities overcome their obstacles, and live better lives... a nonprofit working to become a national foundation, and change the lives of people with spinal cord issues, so they can change their own."
The trailer for the new film about Chris' journey says it's "a documentary that will inspire you to overcome." There's no doubt it will have a big impact on the lives of many people. It's called 7 Yards: The Chris Norton Story. It debuts today on Amazon Prime and Apple TV.
