JOANN Fabric Store Set to Close These Six Iowa Locations
Fans of the long-time crafts and fabric store JOANN are running out of locations as the company continues to navigate bankruptcy. Soon, more Iowa locations will be closing their doors for good.
The Des Moines Register reports that the retailer first filed for bankruptcy in March of 2024. The company filed again for Chapter 11 in January which will lead to more store closures in Iowa and across the nation. JOANN is confirming that it plans to close around 500 of its 850 stores nationwide. So which Iowa locations will shut down?
The Register reports that the company has yet to release a full list of stores that will be closing. Previously, USA Today reported that at least eight stores would be closing across Iowa, North Carolina, Maryland, Pennslyvania, New York, and Massachusetts by early January. But that was prior to the second bankruptcy filing. According to documents obtained by USA Today and filed by the bankruptcy court, these are the Iowa stores expected to close soon.
- Ames
- Ankeny
- Council Bluffs
- Iowa City
- Muscatine
- Mason City
The Register reports that the JOANN located in Burlington closed in January. That means that soon there will be just five JOANN locations left in the state. Those stores include Clive, Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Dubuque, and Waterloo. All of those stores are expected to be safe after this latest round of store shutdowns.
