Highlights From Week 1 of the Battles on ‘The Voice’
NBC's 'The Voice' is quickly weeding through their contestants to get ready for the Knockouts! This week was the first week of "battles," which is where the coaches pair up their team members and make them sing a song together. It's easily my favorite part of the show, but I couldn't help but feel like things were very rushed, especially last night. They always spend a lot of time showing the rehearsals and behind-the-scenes stuff, but I would much rather use that time to hear all of the battles, instead of some of them just getting a few seconds of airtime. Maybe that's just me, though.
I'm also a little bummed out by the lack of country music this season. 'The Voice' ALWAYS has some great country representation, but in the three hours of battles this week there was only one country performance, and we only got to see about three seconds of it. I'm hoping things will be different next week!
Alright, enough venting. Let's get to the good stuff! There were some phenomenal battles this week, but one of my favorites has to be Team Alicia's Jordyn Simone vs. Kelsea Johnson. The voices on those ladies gave me goosebumps! I was so happy to see 17-year-old Jordyn saved by Team Adam. My other favorite was Iowa's very own Sharene Calister. She was the very first battle of the season and she NAILED it. I can't wait to see what else she brings to the table in the next few weeks!
Here are a few of my favorite battles this week:
