Iowa Star Left Waiting as WNBA Draft Comes and Goes
The 2026 WNBA Draft will be remembered as the draft that three straight UCLA Bruins were selected in the first round. And why not? The Bruins were recently crowned National Champions. One Iowa Hawkeye was hoping to hear her named called Monday night, but her WNBA dreams will have to wait a bit longer.
Hannah Stuelke Goes Undrafted
Dear Gold reports that 45 players heard their names called during Monday's WNBA Draft. Unfortunately, one of them was not former Iowa Hawkeye Hannah Stuelke.
Stuelke played four extremely productive seasons at Iowa. She was part of the Caitlin Clark led, back to back National Championship game teams. And when the nucleus of those teams left, Stuelke became a veteran leader for new coach Jan Jensen. Her Iowa career ended with her becoming just the fourth Hawkeye in history to score over 1,500 points and pull down over 900 rebounds, according to Dear Gold.
What Happens Next For Hannah Stuelke?
Hannah and many other talented players who didn't get drafted will now be contacted by WNBA teams. She'll likely sign a training camp contract, and then try and make the regular season roster, according to Dear Gold. With Hannah's hustle, hard work, and determination, I can't imagine there won't be many teams who want to bring her in to training camp.
