One of the players who helped Iowa go on its improbable run to the Elite Eight during the men's NCAA basketball tournament is officially saying goodbye to the Iowa basketball program and to Hawkeye fans.

Tavion Banks Shares News on His Future

Tavion Banks and other members of the basketball class of 2022 got some good news this week. The Des Moines Register reports that a recent court ruling gave Banks and other players in that class a fifth year of eligibility in college basketball. Many Hawkeye fans were excited at the prospect of having the high-flying Banks back in the Iowa lineup. But it appears he'll continue his college career at another school. Banks shared this message shortly after getting the good news about his eligibility.

Banks spent two seasons at the junior college level before joining Ben McCollum at Drake. The Register reports he then followed McCollum to the University of Iowa and appeared in all 37 games last season, starting all but two. Banks was Iowa's leading rebounder and second-leading scorer behind Bennett Stirtz. He had 20 points in Iowa's upset of #1 seed and defending National Champion Florida in the NCAA Tournament.

While Hawkeye fans are sad to see him go, we all wish Tavion the best during his final season of college basketball.
