There will be another ISU alum among the head coaches in the NBA. Media reports say that Jeff Hornacek will be named the new head coach of the New York Knicks. Hornacek was last a head coach with the Phoneix Suns. He was fired during the regular season after a 14-35 start.

Hornacek is Iowa State's career leader in assists and steals. He played for the Cyclones from 1982-86. He then spent 14 years playing in the NBA for Phoenix, Philadelphia, and Utah. He replaces Derek Fisher who was fired during the regular season. Kurt Rambis led the Knicks on an interim basis during the second half of the year.

Hornacek joins Chicago Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg as ISU alums who are head coaches in the NBA.
