Fleet Farm has officially ended plans on what was to be a $35 million store in the Eastern Iowa town of Tiffin. A company spokesperson said that the company had considered opening a store in the Johnson County town, but decided not to move forward.

The store was announced in late April as the planned occupant of a 185,000 square foot building within the city's Park Place development area. That is located near Forevergreen Road and the intersection of I-380. Since that announcement, the city of Tiffin has learned that the store and its developer stepped back from their decision to close on the lot.

Tiffin mayor Steve Berner says that he is still confident that the space will still be filled. He added that the city and developer have talked with another big box store about coming to Tiffin. He did not reveal which store.

Despite not coming to Tiffin, Fleet Farm is expanding into Cedar Rapids with a new store at Edgewood Road NE and Highway 100. The grand opening is scheduled for September 20th.
