Library Grand Opening This Saturday

A celebration is planned for this Saturday as the new Busse Branch of the Cedar Rapids Public Library prepares to open to the public. KWWL reports that a special presentation will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, followed by a ribbon-cutting. Afterwards, you can stop inside for refreshments and tours of the new library until 2 p.m. The library will remain open until 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Where Is The Busse Branch Located?

The new library branch is located on a brand-new road. KWWL reports that the Busse Branch can be found at 1845 Sandberg Lane SW in Cedar Rapids. Sandberg Lane is a newly constructed road just off of 20th Ave between Wiley Blvd. and Edgewood Road. The new library replaces the Ladd Library, which was in a rented space and closed on August 8th. The new facility provides twice the books and materials and more meeting space, according to KWWL.

What Can People Find Inside the New Library?

KWWL reports that the new facility has 11 study rooms, 3 community meeting spaces, a dedicated area for teens and children, and several outdoor spaces for learning. Outside the library, there is the Bloomhall Discovery Garden, which features an outdoor reading room, outdoor classroom, and native plants. Glow stones in a pathway will light up at night.
