Man Gets Prison Time for Facebook Messenges

KWWL reports that a Cedar Rapids man is headed to federal prison after he repeatedly sent death threats to a victim through Facebook Messenger. 36 year old Kyle Ryan Cook, was sentenced on Monday. He plead guilty to one count of interstate communications with a threat to injure in October 2025. KWWL reports that Cook sent the threats between May and June of 2025 to a victim who was not in the state of Iowa.

The Threats Were Graphic

According to KWWL, court records show that Cook's threats were graphic and violent in nature. Even after he was arrested, he continued making threats while being transported to a court hearing. He told federal agents that he was going to kill his victim and put her "six feet in the ground."

Cook Headed to Federal Prison

Cook was senteneced to two years in a federal prison, according to KWWL, where there is no parole. He is being held in the custody of U.S. Marshals until he can be transported to federal prison.
