If you have dairy allergies, Costco has just issued a recall that you're going to want to pay attention to.

USA Today reports that Costco has recalled nearly 80,000 pounds of butter because it is missing a warning on the label. That warning is the phrase 'Contains Milk.' The recall was initiated in early October by a wholesaler in Littlefield, Texas due to an undeclared allergen. The allergen found in Kirkland Signature Unsalted Sweet Cream Butter and Kirkland Salted Sweet Cream Butter had been identified as milk, according to the FDA.

USA Today reports that the recall has been classified Class II, meaning that the use of the product could cause temporary and reversible effects. It is unclear if anyone has suffered any reaction to the butter. Costco has yet to comment. But fortunately, the internet is full of comments, and I'll admit, a good point has been raised.

It's a fair point. If you suffer from a dairy allergy, you probably don't have a stick of butter in your fridge. You buy items that are clearly listed as 'dairy-free'. I think that this recall is more about the laws of packaging and less about public health.

If you have the recalled butter, officials say you can simply throw it away or return it for a refund. Or...and go with me on this...if you aren't allergic to dairy, you could also just use it. Just a thought.
