Former Hawkeye basketball player Connor McCaffery has his first college coaching job.

The former Iowa guard and son of Hawkeye men's basketball coach Fran McCaffery has been announced as a new assistant coach for Butler men's basketball and coach Thad Matta according to Hawkeye Nation. McCaffery will be leaving the NBA's Indiana Pacers organization where he served as the basketball development coordinator. The Pacers made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals this past season.

The Butler job will be a brotherly reunion for McCaffery. He'll join brother Patrick McCaffery who transferred from Iowa to Butler and will be a sixth-year senior. Jack McCaffery, the youngest brother, is a senior at Iowa City West High School and has committed to play at Butler next season according to Hawkeye Nation.

McCaffery will replace former #1 overall NBA Draft pick Greg Oden who has decided to focus on business interests outside of basketball.

While McCaffery may be famous for his time on the basketball court, he also gets a lot of attention these days for who he is dating. McCaffery and former Iowa star and Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark have been together for several years.
