Getting a tattoo is a very personal decision. The ink that adorns your body tells a story. Where you've come from, who you are, and what you stand for. A Cedar Rapids tattoo shop is once again using ink to raise awareness on the issue of suicide.

Insidious Ink Tattoo in Hiawatha kicked off their third annual event to promote suicide awareness. Customers can stop in now through Tuesday and get a semicolon tattoo. Most designs go for around $50 unless the design is more complicated. 100% of the funds go to Foundation 2, a Cedar Rapids organization that provides crisis support services. The groups say that it received over 31,000 crisis phone calls in 2018.

Insidious Ink owner Daniel Abbott said that the issue is personal to him. He lost a cousin and a close friend to suicide. Abbott's shop is running the special through Tuesday, which happens to be World Suicide Prevention Day. Insidious Ink will be open today and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. People wanting the semicolon tattoo can walk in or call and make an appointment.
