You’ve Gotta See This Wooden Statue of Caitlin Clark in Cedar Rapids
Tributes to Caitlin Clark are nothing new. We've seen ads hanging from buildings in Iowa City. There are murals of the Indiana Fever star painted in Indianapolis. You have to wonder what Clark thinks of all the impromptu tributes. An homage to Caitlin in Cedar Rapids is getting some attention, and a local artist is behind the creation!
The Facebook page Hawkeye Heaven posted some pictures of the latest tribute to our hometown hero, Caitlin Clark. The statue was carved from a tree and stump left from the 2020 derecho that destroyed 50% of the tree canopy in Cedar Rapids. The man behind the Clark carving is artist Clint Henik. You can check out his work at the Carve R Way Facebook page. According to his website, Henik began making these wood carvings in 2015. He also does custom wood furniture. Henik helped bring this tribute to Caitlin Clark to life!
Yes, I'm aware that her hands are huge. No, she doesn't have knee caps and is cursed with cankles. But could you do any better? With a chainsaw?
While I hate to give out a specific address, comments on the post reveal where the Caitlin Clark statue is. I'll just say that it resides somewhere off Edgewood Road SW. Just remember, if you go to view the statue, this is a neighborhood. Be polite.
While some might not think this wooden sculpture is a dead ringer for Caitlin Clark, it still has to be better than the Caitlin Clark butter statue, right?
