My son Chase is going to be 12 years old this year. He's a pre-teen. It can be a difficult time. Peer pressure seeps into your life for the first time. I've noticed this year is the first time that he really cares about what kind of clothes he has or shoes he wears. He knows other kids are looking. So it came as no surprise this week when he refused to wear an outfit my wife bought for him. Chase said that he didn't like the colors, and said he saw a girl at school wearing the same shirt. First of all, here is the outfit.

In Chase's defense, the shirt itself features a lot of a turquoise blue. I can see where he may not be comfortable wearing so much of that color. But it clearly IS NOT a girl's shirt! It was purchased in the boy's section of the store! I look at some of the shirts that I wear now. I have no problem wearing a pink or purple shirt. In fact, I have several. But would I have worn it when I was 12? Probably not.

I really want to know if this outfit crosses the line as far as an acceptable color scheme for a 12-year-old boy. I certainly think he should have worn it. But then again I'm not known for my fashion sense. Maybe I'm wrong and he's right! What do YOU think?
