Iowa native Ashton Kutcher and his wife, Mila Kunis, set out to raise $30 million in order to help Ukrainian refugees fleeing the country due to the Russian invasion. Their plan is to match the first $3 million donated via GoFundMe.

As of today, the fundraiser is just short of $35 million, with over 70,000 donations.

Kunis was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine in 1983, and her family emigrated to the states in 1991, when she was eight. When the announcement of the fundraiser came, Kunis said "I have never been more proud to be a Ukrainian." Kutcher added, "And I've never been more proud to be married to a Ukrainian."

They also addressed the dire needs the Ukrainian people face:

"While we are witnessing the bravery of Ukrainians, we are also bearing witness to the unimaginable burden of those who have chosen safety. Countless amounts of people have left everything they know and love behind to seek refuge. With nothing but what they could carry, these Ukrainian refugees are in need of housing and supplies right away," the fundraising page says.

Part of the celebrities' statement included where the money will directly go: "This fundraiser will provide an immediate impact on refugee and humanitarian aid efforts. The fund will benefit Flexport.org and Airbnb.org, two organizations who are actively on the ground providing immediate help to those who need it most.

Flexport.org is organizing shipments of relief supplies to refugee sites in Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Moldova.

Airbnb.org is providing free, short-term housing to refugees fleeing Ukraine."

The duo got to speak with Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine as well. The president tweeted out a photo:

The top donors that are listed on the GoFundMe page are Oracle Corp. co-founder Larry Ellison -- who donated $5 million -- and venture capitalist Ron Conway, who contributed $2.5 million.
According to USAToday, the Ukrainian crisis has displaced nearly 3.5 million people.
