Video Game Sparks Fly Between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese Fans
You wouldn't think the cover of an upcoming video game would get national attention. But when that video game involves Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese? You better believe people care! Chalk one up for 'Team Angel'.
Angel Reese Chosen for Video Game Cover
In the world of basketball video games, the NBA 2K series rules the console world. I've played the game for years, and it is a top-notch basketball simulation. Each year, the game features several new covers featuring star players. And this year's WNBA version of NBA 2K26 is getting a lot of attention.
Yes, that is Angel Reese on the cover of NBA 2K26. While Reese is certainly one of the rising stars of the WNBA, she doesn't touch the kind of generational talent and popularity of Caitlin Clark. So why is #22 on the cover?
Why Isn't Caitlin Clark on the Cover?
That is the question that everyone was asking yesterday. TMZ is reporting that we finally have an answer from Zak Armitage, the general manager of NBA 2K. He said of Angel Reese,
In her sophomore year in the WNBA, Angel Reese has made waves, created impactful conversations, and inspired the next generation. She’s a storyteller and has helped the WNBA grow its audience.
While I can't argue that Reese is a conversation starter, no one has grown the league like Caitlin Clark. Fans of the Indiana Fever guard are upset and have let NBA 2K know it!
Personally, I couldn't care less. Let Reese have her cover art and her signature Reebox shoe. Caitlin Clark drives the WNBA in ratings, attendance, and revenue. Her Nike Kobe shoes sell out in less than a minute! I say Caitlin Clark endorses a new basketball video game! One where you shoot from the logo, and 'Mebounds' don't count!
