How many times have you ever stopped into an Advanced Auto Parts store for something your car needed? Windshield wipers, washer fluid, brake light, or headlight bulb. And those are just the easy fixes. The auto parts store announced that they will close hundreds of locations nationwide and that could affect some across the state of Iowa.

KCRG reports that Advanced Auto Parts announced last week that they would be closing 700 stores across the U.S. The news came during an earnings call where the company shared plans to "improve business performance with a focus on core retail improvement." The closings will affect 500 corporate stores and 200 independently owned stores by the middle of 2025.

The company has not disclosed which locations are on the chopping block. KCRG reports that as of October 2024, Advanced Auto Parts operated over 4,700 stores in the U.S. Iowa stores can be found in Marion, three in Cedar Rapids, one in Coralville, and one in Iowa City. Other Iowa locations include Ames, Ankeny, Burlington, Cedar Falls, Charles City, Clinton, Council Bluffs, Cresco, Davenport, Des Moines, Dubuque, Fort Dodge, Independence, Marshalltown, Mason City, Mt. Pleasant, Sioux Center, Sioux City, Urbandale, and Waterloo.
