A Cedar Rapids Restaurant is Open Again After Being Vandalized
It may not look open, but it is!
This morning, the engineers here at the radio station asked Brain and me where they should go to grab some breakfast. Our first thought was BREAKFAST HOUSE! Breakfast House, located at 820 6th St SW, is one of our favorite little breakfast joints here in Cedar Rapids. We've eaten there countless times over the past few years. That's why we were SHOCKED to hear that the restaurant is boarded up!
Our engineers came back from breakfast to tell us that Breakfast House is CLOSED! We couldn't believe it, but then he showed us the picture. We immediately went to the official Breakfast House Facebook page to see what was up. As it turns out, the restaurant is NOT closed. The reason they are boarded up is because of vandalism!
Back on August 27th, Breakfast House shared some shocking photos on Facebook. All of the windows and the door to the restaurant were completely smashed the night before. The post reads:
"Thank you to all of those who stood witness to catch the person in the act of crime. A big shout out to those who dropped everything and ran over to help us clean and board up."
Breakfast House initially had to close because of the damage, but last week they posted an update announcing that they are now open, even if it doesn't look like it! The announcement says:
We're so glad Breakfast House is back open, so if you can, show them a little love! You can get the latest updates from the restaurant HERE.
