98.1 KHAK First Responder Friday Salutes Dan Sander

Each Friday morning at 6:30 a.m., 98.1 KHAK's Brain & Courtlin pay tribute to an eastern Iowa First Responder. The weekly honoree receives a $25 gift card to Wild Hogs Saloon and Eatery in Walford and a $25 gift card to Honor and Respect.

Today we honor Dan Sander, who was nominated by his daughter Kayla! Here's what she wrote:

"My dad Dan Sander has been with the Clarence Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years and currently serves as assistant fire chief. I am 23-years-old and I've always known him to be a fireman. I've watched him leave the supper table, I've watched him leave family gatherings, I've watched him get paged from my sports events, and I've even woken up some mornings to find that he's not there, as he's serving his community. To say I am proud is an understatement. He's my hero and I now work in the medical field and hope to make him as proud as he's made me."
