According to Iowa News Now, Cedar Rapids police were on patrol Tuesday night when they heard gunshots between 16th and 18th Avenue in Cedar Rapids. They went to the area immediately and saw a dark-colored SUV without its headlights on driving eastbound in the alley. The report states that the officers then pulled over the suspected vehicle.

The high-risk traffic stop resulted in multiple people being removed from the vehicle and a 13-year-old, who was a passenger in the car, being arrested. The teen allegedly "discharged a firearm at an occupied home in the 600 block of 16th Avenue SW" and was arrested for "Persons Ineligible to Carry a Weapon, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of a Prescription Drug." The driver of the vehicle, 20-year old Kiara Dana Lyn Peoples, "received citations for Unsafe Entry onto Roadway and Failure to Use Headlamps When Required."

Upon searching the vehicle, officers found "a handgun with an extended magazine." There were also several bullet holes in the home in the 600 block of 16th Avenue SW and shell casings in the alleyway.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported. There is currently an ongoing investigation.
