[UPDATE 7/20 3 PM] The man who died in the Monday morning accident in rural Linn County has been identified as 62-year-old Larry Hullermann of Waterloo.

[ORIGINAL STORY] A two-vehicle accident in Linn County Monday morning killed one person and left another injured.

According to a media release from the Linn County Sheriff's Department (LCSD), Deputies responded to the report of an accident at the corner of Central City Road and Alburnett Road in rural Linn County just before 8:40 a.m. Monday morning. The roadway reopened late Monday morning.

The LCSD says they determined that a vehicle driven by 42-year-old Eric Caryl of Coggon was traveling south on Alburnett Road and didn't stop at the intersection of Alburnett Road and Central City Road. Caryl's vehicle traveled into Central City Road, hitting a vehicle that was traveling east on Central City Road.

The male driver of the eastbound vehicle on Central City Road was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released, pending notification of relatives.

The Linn County Sheriff's Department says Caryl was taken to Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids by Center Point Ambulance. His injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.

The Linn County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate the accident. They were assisted at the scene Monday morning by Linn County Sheriff Rescue, Alburnett Fire, Central City Fire, Lifeguard, and Center Point Ambulance.
